Arm some rebles? just like they funded and armed the very groups they are fighting in afganistan? You know the guys that flew into your trade center? They used to be on Americas pay role.
What does the government know about this ragtag bunch of arab yahoo's. They may be wearing baseball caps now but the turbans will come back out when they are not relying on nato. People have short memories. One of the oppositions gripes used to be how gadafi was in bed with the west.
Lets have a look at Egypt. The "Arab spring" was welcomed by the U.S but now Isreal (US funded) are now seeing attacks via the Egyptian borders.
