As far as i know, it's the same database, accounts are valid on their main sites as well, so i don't see any problems re functionality. I dunno how customers will accept a new domain, as they're used to the current one, i believe you'll lose some sales, so try to find a way to inform them of the change, keep the site credibility rolling.
