I can't stand smoothies and "mean green" juice (kale, spinach, lemon, ginger, etc.).
I still do drink them on a daily basis as a way to get in the needed fruits and veggies. It does help you handle your daily calories and eat less. I would have to look for some of the articles I had researched and read, but it has something to do with fiber in the drinks that trick your body/stomach into feeling full, and for longer. It also does something in regards to how your system metabolizes sugars preventing the spike in insulin you get from the normal western high fructose diet.
Beyond the high blood pressure in my 30's, I have no interest in wearing the dark vader sleep apnea mask. The GF had said some of that was getting worse the past few years and would keep here awake with worry all night.
If the benefit of lifestyle change means dropping a few pant sizes, no vader mask, and all of my blood tests within the 'norms' it's worth it I suppose. It does take some getting used to, that is for sure. You have to learn a new way to deal with your nutrition and eating patterns.
I guess it comes down to investing the time and money into your "temple" by prevention now. Or pay for it later in life via death or larger health problems.
