It means a company repeatedly hits your credit card with charges for things you didn't want, didn't realise you were signing up for or shady cross sales associated with the original payment.

You can prevent it happening to you by being selective about where you use your credit card, you can also prevent it by using prepaid debit cards with set amounts on them, so if you order something for $49.95 with a prepaid $50 card there isn't any way charges on the card can continue.

If you receive any fraudulent charges on your credit cards you should charge them back with the bank immediately and if the problem continues change your card number.
