My post got mangled. It was supposed to say:
I don't know that I agree with their decision, but the headline is false. Black Cherokee are still welcome. What changed is that you can no longer join the tribe. Now, to be Cherokee you have to have Cherokee blood.
It just so happens that some of the people who want to be Cherokee but aren't Cherokee are black.
* "Aren't Cherokee" meaning there's no proof of Cherokee heritage.
Again, I'm not saying I agree with them. If I did did say they were wrong, I would say they were wrong to reject people not of Cherokee heritage. White people can't join either, nor any other race than Cherokee.
