Yeah man, it's totally believable based on everything we know about human nature that there's a group of globally powerful elite people that work together in each other's interest to dominate the rest of the population. This group of people commands the loyalty of all their underlings in much the same way the villian's henchmen are always loyal in the movies. Further more, they never, ever, ever over the years turn on each other in a bid to be not a member of the most powerful group but rather the most powerful person. Also none of the peons employed by this powerful and dastardly group ever leak any information about their existance or plans, not even on their deathbeds.
