Some people have a skill that enables them to quickly pick out an actor or hear a lie
Everyone has a different skillset. For example, while I'm far more able than most to pick out a lie, with proven skills, I'm actually Face Blind (Prosopagnosia) so cannot easily recognise people by their faces. We're all tuned into different things which leave us with different strengths and weaknesses
Only a small percentage of people have instincts that allow them to immediately pick this guy out as an actor. One of the most important things is to be aware of your weaknesses. Fortunately for me it's easy to know that I'm Face Blind (it doesn't take long to figure), I worked that out early on, however it's not so easy for someone to know that they can't spot a lie. The people I know who can't spot a lie are also terrible liars (when they try) and are oblivious to the fact that their lies are obvious.
