Of course since I live in FL my indoor cats have it better since I made a little doggie door to my big screened in patio where they can watch the ducks on the lake, all the birds lizards frogs and snakes all day, they are pretty lucky for indoor cats. Much harder when we were up north being indoors all day.
Vjo, now that your cat is considered a "geriatric" you should consider leaving him indoors or limiting his outdoor activities, older cats tend to get beat up pretty bad by younger males.

Not to mention traffic. I have talked to so many vets about the number of deaths from cars that they see. When people tell me, "Oh, my cat is really smart about traffic", I ask them if their cat is as smart as a 5 year old child. When they tell me "No, of course not", I ask them if they would let a 5 year old go play in traffic. Sometimes they see the point.
Good luck with you kitty.
