The short answer is: Publicity gets you noticed or heard. Unfortunately publicity connected with something dramatic gets more of the publics attention. Its a flaw in human nature. Once you have the exposure, it is up to you what you do with it.

A dozen or so members keep beating the drum and making some noise. I have no reason to quiet them. What they do, is drive initial interest to the site NALEM. Without asking for their help, their antics does the opposite of what they wanted to accomplish. They send us unique visitors, who may not of seen or heard of NALEM otherwise. This makes me believe that they are poor marketers, and need to re-think their strategy. Monitoring the traffic shows me the source of the traffic, how long they stayed, and if they are coming back. Across the board, the #s are increasing dramatically.

I will close with the following ...

We launched this site at the end of January 2011 with XbizLA. By The Phoenix Forum in March (two months later), we had an equal amount of unique traffic as our only competitor. We have been strong ever since. The only temporary drop we had was last month, as no fresh content was posted.

Consider this also: would you rather be liked by people you actually know, or by absolute strangers? If you attend any of the shows, you will find that Buster and I have a warm relationship with those that actually are at the shows. For opinion, theirs counts the most to us.
