Red is for invalid or expired certs.
Blue is for the certs that only verify domain ownership. This is what the cheap ones, like Godaddy, Netsol, and the PositiveSSL / RapidSSL ones use.
Green is for the extended validation certs. These are the ones that take days/weeks to get, and the company verifies not only your domain but the company behind it as well.
