I always thought it was about the best name of all
because it was obscure. webcams.com like to jerk off over their name but IMHO it's bland and a poor relative of cams.com, Streamate is so bad they had to register Streammate too. Imlive is also no great shakes, IMO. LJ is unusual enough to be memorable. JOYourself OTOH.... I think they were just seeing how far they could go with absurd names.
As for LiveJasmin, it simply comes from their 'parent' Hungarian company, Jasmin, right? Perhaps the name is from a relative or child of one of the founders, though IIRC they used to have the flower on the jasmin.hu page years ago, so I always thought it was from the plant.
