Nowadays those outright criminal hosts like oron do not even remove files but mere links, and uploaders could always generate a new set of links for replacement. That's still a work to do, and often manually because auto-replacement is not always supported, but it's still alot easier for them anyway than to really upload a file again.

Yup, if they deleted the masterfile things would be moving a lot slower for the sharers.
I'm seeing some weird things in this area too. Some posters have commented on forums that "links got deleted and I'm not re-uploading that again, sorry if you didn't get it first time"
So to me, I'm suspecting a two tier system, paid account holders and your freebie uploader....one gets deleted, one doesn't.
