some US banks have different set of wire instructions for domestic and international incoming wires through intermediaries, are you sure you gave your sponsor right details?

EXCELLENT! I thought I would eventually get it as the sponsor is honest. Just that when you are flirting with disaster and living period to period this can happen.

Ya know the first time (I had one other wire go thru in 3 days in 2010 from this sponsor) I gave them the Bank of America NY as a correspondent. This time their form had no place for it. I asked my bank and they said it was not nec as the sending bank will decide on the route.
But, I suspect that may have caused the delay as maybe the bank in Cyprus chose some funky route.
But if they are always returned then I feel much better. Then I should get it resent eventually with Paxum if it is delayed and eventually goes back. Once the sponsor gets it back (if that happens) then they will believe me.
But lets hope it just comes.
Still got today and tomorrow and really all next week thanks to getting some help from my friend.
