The FDA/Big Pharma have been unofficially after him for a long time, in 2005 it became official. If you study similar cases you'll see they try to find an excuse to send the target to jail. To kill them you pretend it's suicide as then there's no further investigation.

In 2005, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned Lapre about claims his vitamins were intended as a drug for diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, insomnia, cancer, and arthritis. The FDA stated "Your products are not generally recognized as safe and effective for the above referenced conditions." In 2006 the FDA again warned Lapre about untruthful claims.[6] By January 2008, Lapre's The Greatest Vitamin in the World websites were no longer functioning.[7]
