I lost a close relative to pancreatic cancer. The operation is really serious, takes several hours and is very risky, and if the person is not in good health it is even worse.

Whatever he was doing/eating obviously kept him alive a while as that cancer will kill you no problem six months or less. You don't want to get that kind of cancer, really.
