Apple set market pricing over the past decade. If other companies get near Apple pricing, the public just buys Apple instead. This is the result of Apple's brilliant marketing machine. It has become dangerous for other companies to push the technological limits because it moves their price up to Apple's pricing. Ignorant consumers, when faced with choosing between new technology and the apple logo, will choose the Apple logo if the price is the same.
