Okey, where to start
First do a check lets say for the keyword teen cams on google. You will see that at least 3 out of 10 results are streamate cobrands - moneytree I think, not really sure.
I think as an affiliate we forget our role:
get targeted traffic - send targeted traffic to the paysite (the paysite will handle convincing them to join - true, it would be great if we could presell them)
Now you will say that google hates affiliate pages and just like you told earlier, there are tens of thousands of sites just like that, and I agree.
Sure, you can make a better site, free stuff, etc... But guess what, and I'm speaking for the cam business cause it's what I know, no matter how complex of a site I make the members will always prefer the mother one.
Why waste time and build complex sites when I can do small affiliate ones and get things done, earn money.
What to do against google who hates small affiliate sites?

Sometimes primitive, low resource weapons can put problems to the most equipped armies. It's actually a plan in case aliens come to invade us.
It's hard to battle Goliath, still possible tho with a site, hence my example above for "teen cams".
It's just my two cents, I may be wrong... sometimes it's good to be wrong, you get to learn much more;)
