I have driven the Tesla Roadster a couple of times. It's a nice car but its too small for my 6'3" frame. It's also a 2 seater which, even though its designed to be a sports car, and even though its all electric, is just not practical for me at $120,000. It's fast as hell making it FUN, but the cramped space takes some of that fun away.

I since gave up on the electric sports car idea and have been instead looking at the Telsa Model S ($50k) and even the Chevy Volt (also $50k). The Model S is all electric and really nice looking (almost looks like a luxury car) while the Chevy Volt is a semi-compact hybrid. Mind you it's much better than all the other hybrids out there, but still.

The new BMW on the other hand is fucking GORGEOUS. If I was going to get one I would definitely go for the electric-only version. Besides everything else it will easily out perform the hybrid counterpart and be a bazillion times cheaper to run. It is by far the sexiest car I've seen in a very long time. (Plus it reminds me of TRON. Maybe Olivia Wild will want a ride..)
I will never ever buy a fully electric car. Too many problems with them. Everytime I read a review, or there is one on Top Gear they just have soo many downfalls.

Expensive battery packs that don't last, charging takes too long etc.

A Hybrid would be ok, but I will wait for Hydrogen before even thinking of ditching Gas/Petrol/Diesel.

A 100% electric car would be good for local run abouts probably. But that is about where it ends at the moment.
