Why is it that people assume as you get older you automatically get bitter? At 57, there may be some cheating, lying, shiftless nincompoops making more money than I do (in fact, I'm sure of it, though some are just experiencing some undeserved and serendipitous luck, too), but anyone who really knows me would know that I love my work (who wouldn't?), overall I'm pretty happy (happier than a lot of the low self-esteem posers around here are, I'm sure), I don't long for ANYONE's approval as long as I please myself, and I suspect Charly's much the same.
Quite frankly, if you look at the history of art, creative people tend to improve just about as long as they live, unlike people whose success is built upon physical attributes, which tend to go downhill starting in their 20's. THEY are the ones who should be feeling bitter.
