I was looking at the 8000 series Samsung but ended up getting a 55" LED Sony - the NX810.
I liked the Samsung 3D better than Sony but the price for the Sony was a lot better. I just bought the 3D glasses a few months ago finally and I've watched two, maybe three movies with 3D. Tried out Gran Turismo on 3D as well as Black Ops, neither of which looked like they had as much 3D/depth as the movies. After watching a movie, I was glad to get those glasses off too. The Sony glasses are not comfortable at all and basically pinch your temples. Regardless, my TV looks amazing and I didn't buy it for the 3D alone.
My overall favorite 3D was the Panosonic Plasma's which are always rated high. I choose LED because of constant burn in issues and amount of light in my living room.
