Not to mention Shockwave was doing full 3D browser games years ago but when Adobe took it over they treated it like a red headed step child and pretty much ignored shockwave and put full focus on Flash. Stupid mistake on their part because now others like Unity3d have filled the vacuum and become the dominant game engine for web based 3d.

Actually Flash Player 11 already much more 3d oriented, it has direct access to your computer's gpu. Check

Also Flash platform is not only for Flash animated movies. It's also used for very complex RIAs build with Adobe Flex. And Flex is something that HTML5 is not going to get even close to. It can publish for web, desktop, Android and iOS. And in HTML5 you still need to analyze users browser to do something more or less complex.
