E-mail should all go to Gmail or Google Apps. Autoforward if necessary.
Amazon S3 servers as an example cost 14 cents per GB of storage, so having all your docs, family photos and other important stuff is like $1 a month away from being a lot more safe. Their servers have RAID, redundant backups, 24/7 staffing, and they'll literally charge you $0.84 a month if that's what you're using.
Nowadays if I lose my OS drive, I'm back up and running within an hour or two and haven't lost much of anything, just settings.

Thank you so much for this information... I recently started using gmail as one of my main email accounts, and from now on I'm going to forward all important docs, and information to gmail just in case...
I'm also going to look into all of what you have just recommended and start on it ASAP... THANK YOU SO MUCH... This won't happen again, well at least if it does, it won't happen this way, I won't lose anything...
What's going to to suck is over the next few months little things here and there are going to pop up that I am going to need and won't be able to find and then it's the good ol'feeling of "FUCK THAT'S GONE TOO???"
