Until that time, one lunatic is just as good as another. No reason to change. You'll seek them out no matter what. Breaking up for you is nothing more than changing the physical traits of the exact same personality that will continue to make you unhappy.
It's not a stretch to assume your mother is a total lunatic. Maybe an alcoholic/pill popper. She's most likely a very abusive personality, for whatever reason.
