It's a silly gaffe, yes, but absolutely it's what he said and I think it's a lot sillier than a misstatement Cain made when asked about China.
Obama thought hard for a few seconds before stating there are fifty-seven or fifty-eight states. We've all seen the video. We've watched him talk about "countries like Europe." Does that mean he's a dumbass? No, but it's certainly a lot sillier than Cain misspeaking regarding China's nuclear program. Can you speak off the cuff about China's nuclear program and make an intelligent case for specific policies? Probably not, but I bet you'd never say there are fifty-eight states. Both are gaffes, yes. It could happen to anyone. Cain's, in my opinion, is far less significant than any of Obama's many silly blunders.
