Studios were successful early in the game because in that part of the world, incomes were low (200-300/mo etc), internet/computers/cameras were expensive and few had internet access in their homes or could afford it... assuming they had a phone line to begin with.
Now everything is cheaper, incomes are higher, models all can buy computers, cameras, pay for fast connections and work from home... hence the decline of studios. Studios simply aren't necessary to models when they can just as easily work from home.
My first t1 in Russia in 1998 was $18,000 a month and relied heavily on satellite and radio relays. There was no option for home connections at the time that was fast enough to support existing java video/java chat solutions like Firecracker (which livejasmin started as)... there was only dial up which was not only too slow but unreliable even at 56kbs.
These kinds of retarded wrong assumptions and baseless statements are why people keep telling you that you're an idiot.
