The cable version was worth a lot of money. A softcore version of the film would sell to cable companies all around the world, often for big money. The softcore version cold be sold out of any shop in lots of places. Therefore production budgets were huge for these movies. Does anyone think Max's recent film is a unique thing? It's not, it's a recent product in a long line of similar products. Because the rewards were there.
