More Americans own guns than Canadians. The numbers are WAY higher than those in Canada. Canadians, for the most part, own rifles and shotguns, not handguns. Most civilian gun related deaths are caused by handguns.

If we are going to draw comparisons then it's only fair to compare apples to apples and not to oranges.

Carrying a gun is a very justifiable solution for those who live in a country where guns have been allowed for 200+ years. The guns aren't going anywhere and those who should not have them do anyway. All things being equal, if the bad guy has a good chance of having a gun, my wife (or whoever is being attacked) should have one too.

Besides, who said anything about gun related deaths? I'm talking about the woman having the ability to stop her attacker who, as far as I know, wasn't armed with a gun.
