My wife and I are flying into Cancun on Dec 23 and out on Jan 8, but will be spending the first 9 days in Cuba. When we get back to Cancun we're renting a car and planning on checking out Chichen Itza, Tallum/Punta Allen, Playa del Carmen and possibly a day in Cozumel if we have time. Don't really plan on spending any time in Cancun. If you will be there the same time maybe we can meet for drinks one night.
