I'm starting to think you actually believe this. If that's really the case, in a weird sort of way, my heart goes out to you. I've seen people struggle with this type of delusion and behavior patterns, and I can only imagine the nightmare that it will be for you when you realize that you need help. Seeing posts like this (and really, your reaction or inaction to all of the threads this week) make much of my anger turn to pity. Maybe I'm a sucker for punishment, but I'll offer you one final settlement. In keeping with my previous offers, not a cent goes to me.
My offer is as follows, Mark:
1) Enter therapy, be HONEST with your therapist, and show him/her the logs of these threads.
2) Keep an open and honest dialogue with your therapist, and have him/her "sign off" monthly that you attended at least two sessions.
3) Keep this schedule of appointments for a one year period.
If you don't take me up on this to settle your debt, maybe you'll consider it for Sarah's sake, or the sake of your children. I've seen someone completely self-destruct from this type of psychosis before, and I had to field many 3am calls to talk him down from suicide when the ego walls he built up finally came crashing down and he smelled his own bullshit.
Because you've chosen to perpetuate the fantasy that I somehow didn't deliver on a project, I'll respond to those accusations. As my direct manager at the time can confirm, I repeatedly and habitually documented my progress on all projects, and accommodated any changes you or your staff introduced into the spec sheets. I never heard any of this nonsense about "not completing" projects, or anything of that nature. Every communication from your or your staff was praise of my abilities and plans for the future. If you have some logs to the contrary, please enlighten me.
Every time my paycheck was late, there was an excuse. Sometimes it was that funds were missing because someone stole them (delusional fantasies of ex-employee theft), because you were waiting on big payments, or other reasons. Sometimes, your complaints were that the business was changing and it wasn't as profitable. Sometimes, it was personal expenses. At one point, I became so fed up with this litany of excuses that I said to you, "I bet your M5 is still getting paid, while I wait for my paycheck."
There was never any mention of wages being legitimately withheld. It was always "I'll pay you soon," etc. In fact, you were so good at making up excuses that I ended up working three months without getting paid.
For you to try to twist that now makes me bitter, because of the position of trust that I allowed you to enjoy. You didn't pay my wages, plain and simple. I addressed it with your repeatedly since that time, and you've always said you would eventually pay. You stretched it out until the legal statute of limitations, and then you went away.
To be clear: Any implications that I somehow didn't pursue you or you didn't know about the debt are false. Saying I did not complete projects is untrue, and contradicts your words at the time. Implying I somehow "ran" to GFY is disingenuous at best.
