It always shocks me how bad the average American's knowledge of events and history outside the US is. I once spoke to an American who was suprised that the British speak English ... !!!!!
Reminds me a bit of a joke told on telly today, America was so ashamed at arriving at World War 2 two years late that they decided to be early to all future ones - by starting them :D
