I tend to agree, though there are extremists on both sides of that as well. I have a friend who is a geologist and a another who is a pastor who both agree that there's really no controversy. Science is concerned with how things work and what the natural laws are. Religion and other spiritual disciplines are talking about the WHY rather than the HOW, often through analogies that are many thousands of years old.

There's no reason one can't believe as Einstein did that science is how we come to understand the natural systems which are expressions of a deeper energy. When religionists try to discredit evolution as the mechanism by which things change, they are getting silly. At the same time, evolution explains how once species of dolphin becomes another. Evolution by itself doesn't even claim that a rock "evolved" into a living fish. Also just because today's smart phone designs "evolved" from Graham Bell's invention doesn't mean Graham Bell didn't start the process with a CREATION of the phone, or even that the evolution to today's phones didn't involve intelligent design by humans. Thus, creation and evolution are complimentary processes.

Those who believe there is a creative force we can't understand need not argue that those creations then couldn't evolve. By the same token, those who believe that a sea worm turned into Obama need not violently fight the notion that something created the sea worm to begin with, or pointed it in the right direction to become Obama.
