a confederate slave owning general has a statue in washinton dc. that is so what.
the point is only the winners get statues...on their own home turf.
a theory is that Pike was a main player in the British plan to instigate a civil war while declaring their "neutrality."
yes another crazy conspiracy theory...
until you look at the facts-
1)Britain had far more invested in the south, commodities, exports-
2)The British publicly were "neutral" during the war.
3)The British built at least two major warships for the confederates for the civil war.

4)
The British ran blockades for the confederates during the civil war.

Quote:
Great Britain played a major role on the blockade running business, as they had huge investments in the south and were the recipients of many commodities exported goods, especially cotton. To protect their interests British investors had engineered steamships that were longer, narrower and considerably faster than most of the conventional steamers guarding the American coastline, thus enabling them to out-maneuver and out-run Union ships on blockade patrol.
These vessels also served to import badly needed supplies, especially firearms, and also served to bring mail to and from the Confederacy."

So we know one thing, the British govt was flat out lying saying they were "neutral" during the Civil War.
The only reason they paid this lip service was to keep Lincoln from declaring war on Britain.
So once again, why would a losing confederate slave owning general have a statue erected in Washington DC?
