Jeff, you're wrong. Perception is the first thing you sell. If you don't deliver on that perception. Then it was a con. And that's not selling.
We were selling on perception 10 years ago and the consumers soon learned to be wary or perceptions. Today surfers are the hardest to convince. Now Roald will tell me he does great convincing 1 in 1,000 to spend $30.

You are telling me I am wrong based on the dozens of sales you have seen in the last decade.
1996 conversions are available today, and I will take 1:1000 on 100,000 unique over 1:1 on 5 every day of the week.
Surfers do not stay a member of a pay site because "they are getting what they want" except in only the rarest cases. 90% of retention is because people do not pay attention to their credit card statements.
99% of sales is because surfers *think* they can find something they can't get for free (perception), or they do not know how to work the internets.
