Since icmregistry.com/whois/ does not display the owners yet (only a "reserved" for everyone), and I wanted to know who registered some domains, yesterday I was doing the whois in every registrar, i.e. godaddy, netsol etc., since they display the owner in whois for domains registered via them. And with my surprise some registrars was giving them as AVAILABLE!? My guess it is that some registrar was updated nearly in realtime, while others too much delayer or totally disconnected with ICM's nic.xxx, so most or all who registered in that registrar a no more available .xxx, simply they got it as available and now a sorry.
Just a guess from a tech point of view, I am not an anti or pro xxx activist here.

The thing is, they sent out not just the purchase receipt on the domains, but they also sent out almost a day later, the email awarding and confirming the domains were ours. Had they never sent the confirmation email, I would chalk it up to tech error. But since they actually confirmed a day later, THEN took them away, something is wrong there.
I now know of two others who had the same thing happen. Smells to me like they are just fishing for good domains they missed that they can hold themselves and sell at a premium price later.
