After you buy a domain, you have to get a ICANN ID in order to activate it. That's when they can look at your domain and decide if they want it or not.

Yep, that's exactly what I'd expect from dealing with scumbags. It'll be fun to watch what happens a year from now aster sites are developed and they do the same type of thing with renewals. They wouldn't do that on renewals, right? That would be a scummy thing to do. Yes, it will be scummy but not surprising because we know they are scumbags.
