Your site will be near the top at first when it gets initially indexed as a placeholder for the main spider, which will then thoroughly index your site and put it in its "correct" spot. But without seeing your site or knowing what has been updated and how frequently, it's hard to tell what caused the decrease. Also, if you use content from feeds that other affiliates use or if you over use them, Google is getting harder on duplicate content these days and even article rewriters' content can be detected.
