I don't think 176 per year is a bad deal for 10K mails per month (120K mails / year). I also got dedicated servers with SMTP that I could use for sending mails or an actual dedicated mail server + I could use both google and span arrest.
Yet I still decide to use primary AuthSMTP for the single reason that the mails are getting delivered. I guess if you really want to save the $150 / year it wouldn't be a big deal to tell people to look for your mail in the spam folder instead of the inbox :-)
