Normally I would agree with you. But not in this case.
See, by the time it occured to Seth that there's such a thing as "permission marketing", people like Gary Halbert and Dan Kennedy had already been doing it practically for decades. Not only them, but others before them had been doing it for decades. AND it had already been written about countless times.
Then, one day (in our time) along comes Seth Godin and it FINALLY occurs to him: "Shit, if I got their permission to sell to them, I'd sell more! What a nifty concept!" But instead of actually trying it out, he decides to write a book about it and let the publisher market and sell it.
