Some things I learned at Affiliate Summit
As I walk around the show floor at ASW, I've noticed a few things...
Ad networks in the non-adult world tend to be really scammy...they want to charge me 20% to pay my own affiliates, but I can't really have direct contact with my own affiliates. They sometimes determine if a sale is "legit" or not...not by some advanced fraud screen, but they just don't "feel right" about the sale.
Sales reps at ad networks are almost as clueless as the eye candy board whores that used to attend adult tradeshows.
Processor sales reps are completely clueless...they don't know what continuity deals are, but pretend they do...
Non-adult ad networks make serious bank of totally clueless newbies who feel their entire world will collapse without these knights in shining armor saving them from the fiery pits of bankruptcy hell...on both sides of the spectrum: publishers and advertisers.
Overall, with one more day to go, it's been worth the cost and I've made some great connections for business, but have found things are a little different on this side of the internet.
