[QUOTE=DamageX;18680308][QUOTE=trevesty;18680172]The only person I'd call a "guru" doesn't spam his mailing list and other avenues.

What is your understanding of "spamming" your e-mail list? Sending mails daily, twice a week, weekly? What if the list you have actually WANTS your "spam"? If it really were "spam" then you'd see a shitload of people opting out. The REAL "gurus" split-test this continually, and come up with the most profitable balance between unsubscribing and sales volume.

Yes, to increase his list.

He has his own website where he does all of "that"... the typical John Chow stuff. I believe he sends an e-mail out every 2 weeks or so... and yes, he makes more than most just from that. IIRC, he started doing that at the recommendation of John Chow.

Doing media buys to landing pages with the offers ONLY to increase his mailing list?

I understand you're describing 99% of the mainstream marketers out there who make bank, but this guy makes enough money without that that it's really not necessary or worth his time. He's mastered the art of media buying.
