Could cobranding be dangerous ?
Just something that popped into my head today..
Alright, so we know the trends of the future seems to be Cobranding this and cobranding that. (basically having our logo's and colors on the landing pages of the affiliates we promote)
In order to do this , we gotta specify their IP in our DNS manager so that our domain (or subdomain) is now hosted on their server.
Seems all good and fancy...and most programs seem legit.
..but what if a certain company (in which were cobranding on) decides to host illegal material on our domain behind our back....?
Without stats integrated on those pages, we'd never know what was going on.
Who would get busted, the domain registrant (us) or the company's server in which the content is hosted on ? It would be their IP, so wouldn't they be the ones in trouble ?
rare, rare chance i'm sure. but who knows...it could be tempting for people hosting in shady countries where IP's can't be traced back to.
