Why? When you train people to kill without hesitation and remorse and throw them into combat with people killing them and their friends... you can't expect completely civil behavior.
Personally, I would say that unless you know what it is like to hurt or kill people who are trying to hurt or kill you, who have hurt or killed people you care about etc.. then you can't really have an opinion on the matter. Civility and humanity quickly fall by the wayside and ANY person is capable of unspeakable atrocities in the presence of the right circumstances.
I've recently started dating a girl. This is basically what i told her in a very related conversation about my past..
(paraphrasing)
"See that man right there (we were in a restaurant)... if I told you to pick up this knife and stab him in the throat, you'd think me insane. If I told you to pick up this knife and stab him in the throat because he might hurt your children, you'd think me insane but you'd be concerned for your child and be trying to process whats going on as maternal instincts kick in. Now assume for a moment that guy did hurt your child. You were warned. You had the chance to stop it and next thing you knew, your child was in your arms crying and bleeding, asking why you didn't stop him and why you didn't protect him and how you could let this happen as he bled out. Now imagine another guy comes in, he looks mean and he's staring at you and your second child making threatening gestures. I tell you that he's threatened your second child and you need to pick this knife up and stab him in the throat. This time, you might not hesitate. Unspeakable violence and inhumane acts are more often than not, little more than a matter of perspective for the person committing the act."
You guys are talking about someone pissing on the dead body of an enemy soldier. When you've had someone try to kill you and succeed in killing many of your friends, i'd say that pissing on the dead body of that person is far kinder than anything which should be expected.
