On this car you have to take all kinds of other shit apart and then there are these two pieces that are so well stuck together they may as well be fucking welded.

You have to spray it with penetrating oil (which isn't a good idea for other reasons, but you have to) and then hammer and hammer and pry and hammer and fight with it until it finally BEGINS to break free. There's no way around that - we had an air hammer and everything else.

The guy I was working with is ASE certified and has been a mechanic his whole life.
