wrong, especially now, the only people suffering in America now are the shiftless, lazy and stupid. and yes there are plenty of those but they have only themselves to blame. you don't need to be rich at all in America to live a nice life. the ONLY people to feel some empathy for are people who had good jobs/careers who have had those jobs evaporate because of changing times and technology. those people need to re-train and adapt and while they do it they will have to take jobs that they are capable of doing right now - if that's selling shoes at Sears or being a cook at the Olive Garden, so be it.

you can buy a house, the same type of American dream home we always hear about in the post WWII boom era - in many American cities, detached small homes, many with in ground pools in the yard for between 100-150K, cities like Orlando, Florida, Phoenix,Las Vegas - there are tons of small cities and towns across the Midwest with houses for even less. air travel in the US is dirt cheap, as are hotels now - anybody with a decent job or business of their own can afford a getaway vacation. big screen TV's are cheap, computers are cheap, internet access is cheap.
