I agree with Lagcam. I judge if a name is worth the asking price based on others bidding. What does it hurt starting a bid lower, and having a reserve? If I was selling a domain and received zero bids, I would then wonder how much lower I need to make the fixed price. There is always the buy it now price if someone does want it bad, thinks the price is worth it and does not want to risk losing it during an auction.
The only good thing I see to this is people who are not motivated to sell. They are happy to wait for the right big fish to come along, if it is 30 days or 3 years. Just using the auction as exposure.
