The problem with people is that it's never personal. It's always your position. Little kids (and often bigger kids with mental ages of about 3) disrespect their teachers because the teachers have imaginary power. Or when I see a cop on the street, I tuck up my collar and get the fuck out of his sight asap, hoping he doesn't see me. I don't want to be that "random guy of the day" where he calls 12 of his buddies to roll me up in a carpet and give a good kicking to back at the station. It's nothing personal about the cop as a human being, it's just his position as a cop.
The problem with pets is that it's like dealing with your mom or your kids. Or perhaps your father, depending on your upbringing. It's ALWAYS personal with pets. Every single fucking time. And that's where they get you. I've lost more than 1 dog over the course of my 28 years, but if I ever have to jump in front of a speeding train, at least I'll be no more than a few seconds away from plenty of genuine buddies to keep me company for the rest of eternity.
Well, fuck it. Train or no train, once I've served my time in this shithole, I'll make it there eventually. Can't wait.
... unless I get sent to straight to fucking hell, which is very possible.
