Ever considered that an affiliate program can get more than 1 affiliate signups on a day, so it's not just to avoid '1 scammer', leaving your program open for everyone to register exposes a risk. What if the owner is sick for a few days or traveling.

Affiliate programs have very good reasons to not auto-approve accounts. And if you fail to understand that, you are just shortsighted.

They might lose some affiliates like you that are impatient, but it can safe their business in the long term, which is way more valuable than the signups they might lose on.

And I am sure most affiliate programs do more due diligence than just seeing if the domain exists. Typing some (big) website as the URL that you don't own will not work, the program owners are not that stupid.
