That is precisely true,
However, thank also the complete junk US programming that is served on local cable, tabloid media focusing on showing only the ridiculous, some not all that representative US politicians from the last decade - these things definitely hurt the image of America in the eyes of those that never took the effort to learn more about or visit the States themselves.
