Like i said earlier, it's all subjective -- the idea of what is true metal and what isn't. I listen mostly to sludge and doom metal, with some epic/pagan here and there. There's the stuff in the post I made on page one of this thread, but here's some others.
This may not be your tastes, but if you look hard enough at blogs and youtube, you can find metal in the genre you like that gets you going.
listen to all of these links and tell me there's not someone's work you can explore further.
