Probably your problem is the aperture you're shooting at. Go to a higher ISO and then you'll get a smaller aperture and better depth of field. Also this can be done by adjusting the speed, no need to shoot over 120 in those shots. Again bringing down the aperture.

Also the quality of the lens and did you have a hood?

Where was the sun or main light source when you shot these pics?

Was it a clear day of overcast?

Did you make sure there was no condensation on the lens, this can happen when taking the camera from a warmer place into a colder place?

Before you employ a model, go out into the open and experiment with different settings etc. Take your teddy as a subject.
Divvy's camera may not have any of those fancy buttons and settings, but I bet you can't order pizza from your camera....
